About Candlewood Web Works

Candlewood Web Works founder Bill Hare has been designing websites for U.S. and international clients since 1999. In 2005, we began converting existing websites to Standards-based design. Some recent conversion clients include job-bridge.com, birdsofhonduras.com, cohep.com, and freetradehonduras.org.

Our Mission:One Internet, available to anyone, anywhere, on any device

In 1998, after a 15 year career as an investment banker in New York, Bill was ready for something different, something a little less ... selfish. Following a volunteer stint in Honduras, he became enthralled by the power of the Internet to reduce poverty by connecting cultures and people. There he was reborn as an information architect and developed over 100 bilingual websites for small businesses, U.S. government agencies, and charities to help foster the growth of sustainable tourism.

In Honduras Bill witnessed the truly liberating and equalizing nature of the Internet, which can help a poor nation develop by connecting the local people directly to the outside world, or help a small business in Connecticut compete one-on-one with the big guys.

The Internet is all about access, access for anyone, anywhere, on any device. That’s why we evangelize the Web Standards approach to website design. Candlewood Web Works is dedicated to encouraging the conversion of existing websites to this technology of the New Internet.

Candlewood Web Works has offices in western Connecticut and Vermont. We are pleased to provide references from past clients. Since the Web is a truly borderless medium, we have clients from all over the world, and welcome inquiries from anywhere. Still, if you like the hands-on approach of a personal visit to your office, we focus on western New England and eastern New York State.
